What Greek law says

Law 4002/2011, as amended by Law 4635/2019, allows online betting and casino games in Greece only from operators licensed by the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC, in Greek ΕΕΕΠ). A licence from another country does not replace it.

What the licence gives you as a player

• A complaint to the HGC if the operator does not resolve a dispute.
• Protection tools: deposit, time and loss limits, and self-exclusion.
• Certified games with a maximum stake.
• Tax withheld by the operator, with no filing by you for each win.
• A minimum age of 21 and mandatory verification.

How to check a website yourself

1. Open the HGC website at hgc.gov.gr.
2. Find the register of licensed operators or the website legality check tool.
3. Type the exact domain as it appears in your address bar.
4. If it does not come up as licensed, the website has no licence in Greece.

What a legal website looks like

• It states its HGC licence number and the company that holds it.
• It accepts players from age 21 and verifies identity.
• It shows the 1114 helpline and limit-setting tools.
• It withholds tax on winnings before paying out.

NetBet copies

The licence covers netbet.gr only. Similarly named sites with other endings are not covered by it, even when they use the logo. In our search we found one such site showing a licence number that matches no real licence. If a website takes registrations or deposits under the NetBet name and is not netbet.gr, do not use it.

What applies to anyone promoting operators

Advertising gambling without a Greek licence is prohibited. Websites that work with licensed operators state their own affiliate suitability licence from the HGC.
